Damage is lower, but fire rate is crazy high. Right now I'm loving a crafted Insisor Sniper Rifle with that 3 shot burst with mods for damage and accuracy, and augmented in creation with disruptor ammo effect.
I'm early in the game, 94 hrs/level 16, so my weapon level is only at the 3rd tier. I'm a sucker for a good sniper rifle, they were always my preferred weapon in the original trilogy, along with having a backup assault rifle for medium range, and a shotgun for close range (always favored the soldier/tech approach).
